Talk Money Week (3rd – 7th November)
It’s almost Talk Money Week (3rd – 7th November)! Talk Money Week is a yearly campaign encouraging people to have more open conversations about their finances – from pocket money to pensions – and to continue these conversations all year-round. The theme this year is ‘start the conversation’. To help residents to start the conversation about finances and support available, we’re running two community events in the city:
- Monday 3rd November, 10am – 12noon at Pallion Action Group, 5 East Moor Road, Pallion, SR4 6QW
- Wednesday 5th November, 10am – 12noon at ShARP, 17 Beatrice Terrace, Shiney Row, DH4 4QW
We’ll have support available from Pallion Action Group and ShARP staff around advice, the Council’s Financial Wellbeing Service, Gentoo Money Matters team, Barclays and students from Sunderland and Newcastle Colleges to help residents to get online and access support via Lightning Reach.

The secure Lightning Reach portal allows you to find and apply for support from multiple providers, quickly and easily with successful applicants receiving £1,070 on average.
