Sunderland Parent Carer Forum

♦  All our activities and events are aimed at parent carers who care for a child, young person or adult with special education needs, and/disabilities, living in Sunderland;  this includes foster and kinship parent carers, providing opportunities to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, reducing parent carer isolation and providing support, advice and signposting to other services where appropraite.

♦ One of our main aims is to give parent carers a voice in how services for SEND are shaped and delivered in the City of Sunderland, working with parent carers, statutory and third party organistions.

♦ We run 🍵coffee mornings, information sessions,training events, as well as the ever popular annual family fun day (fully inclusive) Independence Day.  We also organise listening sessions with various practitioners across education, health and social care. 

♦ Parent Carer Wellbeing is extemely important to us, we run Healthy Parent Carers (various dates throughout the year) where, as a group of parent carers, we try and find small ways of improving our health and wellbeing, which in builds our ‘bounce-back-ability’.  These sessions are run by parent carers, and specifically designed for parent carers.
