Raising the Profile of the Care Workforce: An international conference

10th September 2026

9.30am to 3.15pm

Free of Charge

At this conference, we’ll explore the opportunities and challenges of career pathways across Care and Health. This international event is ideal for those who:

  • Support, develop or lead the care and health workforce
  • Work directly within care and health services
  • Bring lived experience of receiving or providing care.

This conference offers an opportunity to be part of an important conversation about the future of the sector. We’ll bring together employers, practitioners, educators, those with lived experience and more. Also, we’ll explore how we can:

  • Strengthen career pathways
  • Raise the profile of care
  • Build a workforce equipped to meet increasingly complex health and care needs.

Throughout the day, we’ll examine supporting progression across care and health. This includes routes into higher education and professional regulatory programmes. The conference will consider how different perspectives and experiences can inform workforce development.

Through the day, you’ll:

  • Gain insight into current career pathways across social care and health. These include the opportunities, barriers and changing demands facing the workforce
  • Explore practical approaches to supporting recruitment, retention and progression within care careers.
  • Consider workforce preparation for social care nursing and other registered professional roles. We’ll also explore their contribution to delivering complex care
  • Hear from employers, practitioners, educators and people with lived experience. This will be about what supports successful career development and high-quality care
  • Examine how the profile, value and visibility of the care workforce can be strengthened. This includes locally, nationally and internationally.

We’re also offering a tour of our state-of-the-art healthcare teaching facilities. We’ll provide an insight into how we’re preparing the next generation of the care and health workforce.

This conference includes lunch. Places are limited, so we encourage early booking.
