Level 1 Study Programme in Child and Adult Care

This 10-week study programme provides an introduction to both adult social care and early years settings, making it ideal for anyone interested in exploring careers in care, childcare, or community support.

The programme is available to learners aged 16–19, or up to 24 years old with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The programme combines two nationally recognised Level 1 qualifications:

• Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
• Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Early Years Settings

Through a combination of practical learning and discussion, learners will develop a basic understanding of working in both sectors and gain the knowledge needed to progress into further training, volunteering, or employment.

Learners will:

• Understand the roles and responsibilities of carers, volunteers, and support workers.
• Explore the importance of communication, play, and positive relationships in care and early years environments.
• Gain awareness of a range of job roles and services within the adult social care and early years sectors.
• Learn the importance of valuing and supporting individuals and working alongside families and the wider community.
• Build confidence and prepare for progression into further learning, volunteering opportunities, or employment.

Course Delivery

The programme is delivered over 10 weeks, with two taught sessions each week on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Learners will receive support from experienced tutors while developing their knowledge and skills across both sectors.

On successful completion, learners can progress to:

• Level 2 Childcare Study Programme
• Level 2 Adult Care Study Programme
