SkillStart courses offers Basic skills, such as English, maths and digital skills, which are crucial to supporting adults’ life chances. These skills prepare individuals with the tools they need to prosper in life, as well as supporting people into work (in a variety of industries) and progressing within a lifetime of learning.
This programme of learning will support learners to gain a foundation of English, maths and digital skills and knowledge that will enable progression onto formal qualifications or to move closer to the labour market with confidence.
Courses will enable you to:
- Set personal goals
- Build a personal budget and manage debt and income
- Use digital tools for time, task, and financial management
- Produce short written documents (e.g. CVs, cover letters)
- Understand job application components and employment readiness
- Reflect on and develop key soft skills (e.g. communication, teamwork, adaptability, resilience)
- Improve confidence in the workplace or when seeking employment
- Apply numeracy skills in real-world and workplace contexts
